We strive to help families in the early years journey of their child's development.

Little Beginners has been operating in Alexandria, VA for over 7 years. We are a State Licensed Facility, providing care for children 3 months through 5 years of age.
We teach our children empathy, compassion and good manners through our daily examples. Providing age appropriate curriculums to stimulate their creativity and curiosity. We have 2 nursery rooms, a large activity family room for infants and toddlers, an activity room for preschool aged children, and a fenced-in playground with plenty of shaded areas for play.

We participate in training classes offered by the city. I have an Associates degree in Early Childhood Development with over 10 years of experience in childcare ranging from infants to toddlers and preschoolers. Program:

2 months – 12 months

We understand the importance that a child's early learning experience begins at infancy, that's why we do our best in making the transition from home to daycare be smooth. We work with each parent to become familiar with their baby's schedule and create a routine that can work with the transition.

We do tummy time with babies while we read and sing to them and engage them in conversation to help them develop their language skills, and develop their neck & upper torso muscles.

We love to do sensory play with the babies, using various textured toys. We also help with their large motor skill development by helping them stand up and move around.

During feeding time, we love to gently hold and cuddle them when we can, building trust while making them feel safe.

Program:

13 months – 36 months

Throughout our toddler program, our main goal is to foster a responsive, nurturing, and loving environment where they can feel safe to explore and express themselves and build their self-confidence.

Throughout the day they enjoy our large variety of play materials that are readily accessible to them, this includes: arts and crafts, building with blocks and manipulative toys, and experimenting in our sensory area. Art, music, language and science activities are also geared for their age. We offer the tenderness, warmth, and patience as we guide them in their early learning process.

Generally, children get more comfortable when their parents leave. Deep respect for each child ensures that they will develop a curiosity and love for learning.
Preschool program image
Program:

3 years – 5 years

Our program helps early preschool aged children in their physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development, as well as, supports and encourages the development of independence, responsibility, and confidence, all of which are essential for the child’s success going into kindergarten and beyond.

We offer hands-on activities for the child to explore and have fun. We offer a play-based curriculum that is designed to actively engage each child in age appropriate activities that explore areas of literacy, basic math, science, and art, while guiding each of them in their learning style.

We understand that each child learns at a different pace and we work with each one to help them build confidence as they develop their learning skills to help foster creativity and a love for learning before entering the school system.

Meals & Nutrition

Nutrition is an important part of our developmental program

We serve 3 nutritious meals a day Monday - Friday: breakfast, a homemade lunch, and snack. Our food is supervised by the Child Nutrition program (USDA). Our meals meet nutritional requirements established by the USDA. We are committed to healthy eating, and our lunch meals consists of multi-cultural foods. We serve whole grain for bread, and we avoid trans fats, high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils.

For morning and mid-afternoon snack, we provide yogurt, cheese, crackers, fruit and milk and other healthy items. We serve milk or water for all meals and snacks. A weekly menu that repeats every month is provided to parents and posted in the classroom.

Parents can opt to bring in their own food for their infant (brought in properly sealed containers from home), or they can have us provide formula and baby foods. One-year-olds are eligible to eat snack and lunch. Older infants may be fed both our food and food brought from home.

You can visit the USDA.gov to find more about this program.
All foods served are nut-free.
